Welcome!
Thank you for your interest in the Calais Mashup Contest @ Mashup Camp, November 17-19, 2008. We are offering a 4TB Drobo as top prize for Calais mashups in three categories:
- Best Calais Mashup addressing the delivery and/or display of news
- Best Calais Mashup addressing the needs of business users
- Most Creative Calais Mashup overall (in any category serving any user)
How to Get Started
- Read the rules for the Calais Mashup camp on the Mashup Camp wiki. Note that you must be registered and present for the Mashup Camp event to participate.
- Take advantage of the information in the online Open Calais documentation, leverage our easy-to-use tools, and collaborate with other developers in our Forums.
- See Krista Thomas at the Calais table at Mashup Camp to sign the Calais Mashup Contest release form [Krista (dot) Thomas (at) ThomsonReuters (dot) com].
- To help you compete, we have flown in two of our expert internal Calais team members and assembled a variety of resources, which you will find below.
- We have several recipes including sample code to jump start your efforts. A simple document processor, a Calais results processor and an example of creating a local RDF store. We also have a straightforward example of calling Calais from HTML right here.
You can get started early by registering as a Calais user and getting your own API Key. You can use the resources below provided you sign the Calais Mashup Contest release form when you get to Mashup Camp.
